The infamous Joe Theismann break. |
Just when you think you have it all figured out, one of your fantasy studs gets busted up in a game.
Or worse, blows his knee out playing "Red Rover" at his daughter's third birthday party.
Here's a peak at some of the major injuries to keep an eye on for Week 13, heading into the playoffs.
QB's:
Big Ben looks like he will be out another week with his shoulder/chest injury. This does not look good for the mighty Steel Men as they take on one of their most hated rivals, the Ravens. The offense has been a pile of fucking quick sand without their all-time QB under center. They literally have more turnovers than TD's. Honestly, even with Jonathan Dwyer announced as the starter at RB, I wouldn't trust the Pitt offense to do anything but look shaky. They'll have to run, run, run.
RB's:
The Jags backfield is in complete shambles right now with MJD out and his backup Jalen Parmele on IR. This has been a roller coaster of a season for the team, though. Rashad Jennings has gone from second string, to first string, to second string, to now, first string. As for now, the Jags are ruling out MJD, and there is no real time table for his injury that has kept him out of the backfield since week 7.
With Willis McGahee out for the season, many thought Ronnie Hillman would get the start, but Knowshon Moreno got the nod and made the most of it, racking up more than 100 yards combined. Hillman is also currently listed as probable, and it seems as if all the homework was for not, as Hillman was one of the top waiver wire pickups last week, only to see Moreno claim that spot this week.
DeMarco Murray is still listed as being out (questionable) for the Boys next matchup on Dec. 2, although word is he is vastly improving. Felix Jones has been shaky at best in relief, and even owner Jerry Jones doesn't sound too confident in the possibility of Murray's return. However, he's worth hanging on to since Dallas has absolutely awesome matchups against such pourous D's, the likes of Philly, New Orleans, and Washington.
Cedric Benson was placed on the IR designated to return list with a Lisfranc injury that would mean he was eligible to play on their Dec. 9 game against the Detroit Lions. However, the reports out of Green Bay are that he will not play or the rest of the season, due to surgery. So it looks like James Starks will be getting the majority of the touches for the rest of the season. The Green Bay offense has been struggling, but Greg Jennings is slated to return this week or next, and D's having to account for him, Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, and James Jones in the receving core should open up holes for Starks to run through. May be a solid pickup, if still available.
WR's:
Percy Harvin is still listed as "questionable" for the Vikings game against the Pack on Sunday. They plan to test him out on Friday to see if he can actually do anything for real. The word out is that he has not done much activity and is still mostly resting the bum ankle. This is terribly concerning, because, honestly, who can you name on the Vikes roster besides AD and Harvin? They literally have no one else. I'd bank on Harvin being out, and the Vikes relying on a Beast Mode perfomance from Peterson.
